Right now there are a lot of people counting down, waiting for the new year to begin. 2010 is almost a mere memory, and 2011 is a not too distant future. In Norway it’s only 13 hours left of this year, and for our friends in different time-zones it’s either a longer or shorter wait left.

I don’t do resulotions for new years. I tried, but I never really understood the whole thing about making a lot of promises on one night, just because the earth has circled the sun, and then break all or most of them before the next morning. And my countdown isn’t for the new year or to see the fireworks. I don’t have 13 hours on my clock, but rather 13 days.

In 13 days I will start my new life in Tromsø. Hopefully it will be just fine and great and sweet and dandy, but like with the new year I can never quite know what it has in store for me. So I’m nervous, and happy, and petrified. A lot of good and bad things have happened this past year, and in my life so far, and it has led to the choice to move away. To start over, in a way.

I will celebrate tonight with friends, but it’s not really the new year-part of the bash I’m the most anxious about. It’s rather the me moving away, and this being my last party in Bodø-part that makes this night memorable to me. And I hope it will be.

To all of our readers, and to all my fellow bloggists on BRBcoffee:
Have a happy new year!

-Sentimentally yours

This has been the best christmas I can remember to date. Living with my parents, getting to practice my driving a lot before my driver’s test, lots of awesome food which I didn’t have to prepare, board-games and lots of fun.

I’ve also gotten to spend a lot of time with fellow-bloggist “Vegard” (aka. The SUCKER!) and this led to me winning the best bet ever last night.

Allow me to explain: The SUCKER has a brother. Last night we were at a bar with said brother. The SUCKER and I were sitting at a table with some people, The Brother was at another table. Long story short: The SUCKER wagered a life-time of buying me one drink each time we’re out that I wouldn’t dare to just walk over and sit down in The Brother’s lap, I did, I won. Lots of kudos to me, please.

(PS.: I probably won’t hold The SUCKER to it, as the joy of winning is enough.)

Alrighty.

As some of you might know, the story of my studies, my future plans and anything revolving around this subject has been a swirling swirlyness of confusion, indecisiveness and huge impulse-decisions. My only steady rock in an otherwise world of “wat?” is the notion of wanting to become a teacher.

Allow me to briefly recap you on the story. I pop out from high school, study a year of political science in Bodø, rush to Stavanger to study english for half a year, and as of this January, I am going to Oslo. That is where this blog series comes into the picture. I still have no idea what I am going to study, and every other week i go onto the University in Oslos websites and find a different plan for myself that seems equally thrilling. I shall tell this tale as it progresses.

Europe! Woo, aint that a pretty-as-cheesecake continent? Anyways, currently I am browsing something called a bachelor in Europestudies, which as well as giving a thorough run-through of EU, will let me choose to study it from a political science point of view. When this delicious bachelor is done, I will qualify for a masters degree in political science, which I can build upon with pedagogics and become a teacher, or find me another awesome job.

Thanks for your time. Peace out, liberty cabbage

Hay.

Since last i speedposted outside of my exam locale, alot has happened in my speedy world.

At the moment, i am sitting at a slightly unconfortable chair in Oslo, waiting for my train home. I’ve been here this weekend for a globalization conferance held by the norwegian branch of the world social forum. It has been awesome.

I wish to share a tale I came upon. It is quite sad. Me and my special ladyfriend were sitting at a coffehouse, waiting for the buss. We were sitting in a sofa outside in the snow (but under a pull-out roof and heat lamps), enjoying a nice hot cup of delicious cocoa.

Inside of the store a man sat, by himself. He was enjoying a delicious pastry and a cup of coffe, obviously quite satisfied as he was singing to himself of his achievement. “Nice for him”, I thought.

So, there we are outside of the store in the sofa. He then comes out, and tells us that it looks like we are having a nice time, and that he never could have that when he was young, because he was too shy. Now he is all alone, all his family is dead, no children or grandchildren. Noone he can have a nice time with but himself. He said that if he could go back 40 years, he would do it all differently. Then he told us that he lives in an institution, and they have failed to make him better.

After this extremely sad note, he walked back inside the coffehouse and sat back down at his table. As we walked away I could hear him sing to himself “I am crazy, I am crazy”

Sometimes I hate what this world does to some people. I do hope this poor man finds happiness, because noone should live their last days regretting their life.

Hello, my dearies.

I thought I would share with you the tale of the low attention span man.

In his childhood, he could never stick with an activity, because he got tired of football. So he started with taekwondo. He got tired of that, so he started wrestling. He got tired of that, so he started gaming. He switched games and/or characters constantly.

Then he got into politics. He attended lots of stuff, and eventually got himself some positions in boards. He also started a bachelor in political science. But he lost focus after one year, and moved away, leaving his political terms half-finished, for someone else to take over.

In his new city, he started an integrated master-program of English, music and pedagogics, which would leave him as a respectable teacher-man. He also got himself lots of new political positions here.

Right now, our hero is considering moving to Oslo. He has a grand scheme in which he will take lots of awesome subjects, like a bachelors degree in middle eastern studies with Arabic and an obligatory term in an Arabic speaking country, and come out the other end as an awesome teacher with a funny hat.

Oh, low attention span man. Will you ever finish an education?
