How did such a thing happen? What went wrong? Did his dabbling in black magic do this?
The answer is no. After extensive googling, it turns out Jimmy Page actually does have some Chinese ancestry. Why has it only recently appeared, though? For that, I have no answer. All I can tell you is that I was rather shocked at what popped up when searching for images of him. Perhaps I have this idolized mental picture of Page in his heyday, rocking out on stage in one of those satiny, bell-bottom suits with dragons crawling up the leg and his chest bared for the world to see, which is totally being contradicted by the more recent images of this other-worldly, albeit aged, man. What comforts me is the knowledge that after I finish and post this blog, all that will remain is that beautiful picture in my mind and gone will be the not-so-subtle reminder that even our heroes get old and eventually die.
Woah. That may have been a bit too deep for a blog about Jimmy Page looking Chinese. So be it.
Good evening, revered reader. Since this is my first entry in this blog, i shall use it to introduce myself. My name is Vegard. I’m from Norway, I am 18 years of age and I am a communist. Thus, I shall blog mostly about politics, although I wont put a pin on that, as I’m sure I will want to blog about other stuff from time to time. So, on to my entry.
Over my many years of being a sweaty internet persona, I have come to see something that I really should not be seeing. To quote Supa Sayed, man has no memory. World War 2. Or maybe the apartheid regime in Africa 50 years ago. Or slavery altogether. Nevertheless, inhumanity unprecedented! But people have stopped this. Right? We live in a tolerant society free of this shit. Right? So do i really have to keep going? Yes, because apparently you have all forgotten about it. I see a new trend emerging, not one of clothes or music, but of attitude.
“You fucking jew!”. This is a phrase thats no longer uncommon, as if being a jew inherently is a bad thing! I see the internet spitting out people who joke about persecution of jews, of gass-chambers and auswitch and “Arbeit Macht Frei”. I see people claiming to be Nazis simply because they know that I am a devoted communist. And it sickens me, it strikes me right to the core that people can be so through-and-through rotten, ignorant and fucking retarded (Pardon my french). Its not just fascism and nazism, its also general racism. One word: Nigger. Perpetuated greatly by the internet community whos name shall not be mentioned, its now everywhere, and on everyones lips.
Even people who arent intently racist now use it as a term for people of african descent (i have come to the conclusion that that is the only way to distinct people by something as irrelevant as skin-colour without making it sound racist in my head).
I suppose this trend could mean that fraces that weren’t always considered racist but in the past has been used as a degrading term of oppression and apartheid, is starting to
loose its edge. Still, personally I don’t feel entirely comfortable with blatantly racist terms becoming part of everyday talk. Because despite what seems to be a general “truth”, that we live in a tolerant society with no room for racism, we actually do. Racism is everywhere, and it can’t be dismissed.
And normalization of harsh terms is not helping, if anything its making racism seem alright, and its mocking all the deaths, all the hardships and all the shit that mankind has exposed itself to. When you encounter racism daily through speech and reading, you get the idea that its okay. And not only do you feel acceptance for the racist feelings you may have (im not saying everyone harbors them), but those who don’t inherently give a damn about trivial man-made distinctions based upon generalization and discrimination might start doing so. Which is not a good thing.
What am i trying to say? Stop acting like racists. Its pathetic, outdated and childish. How are we supposed to evolve as a species, when we can’t move past several hundred year old ideas of apartheid, that never seem to be quite as gone and forgotten as we would like to think?
Dear God! This has got to be the website of the year! Nay, the idea of the year is more accurate! So what is it, you ask? It is YouTube, but not. It’s the music service you always wanted. Granted, if you simply cannot listen to music that isn’t over 320kbit/s quality, this service is not for you, but if youtube sound quality is good enough for you, it is simply brilliant. It looks roughly like an iTunes spinoff, and it roughly is. It gets music from, you guessed, it, YouTube. I’ve tested getting music from videos I know are HD, but there are no popups or options, so I suppose it automatically grabs the highest quality possible, and plays it back to you, instantly, just like, you know, a normal music player would. It’s free youtube music! With a sleek interface and elegant search function, and functional controls, all on a website.
But, as everyone knows, no one really likes websites, it’s kind of like an evil you have to live with. Except Mozilla has already solved this problem, and recently made the solution available to mac owners too! No matter which OS you are running, even you Linux fans, the combination of Mozilla Prism and moof is too good to pass up!
The service allows you to listen to any music you want, that exists on YouTube, or that you have uploaded. Though I haven’t tried it, due to the massiveness of my library, there seems to be an option to upload your library to their server. The site also allows you to add any song to the library on your personal account (yes, you need to register, but it’s completely free, and ad free to boot). After you’ve added a song, Moof even keeps the playcount for you. The creators really seem to have put a lot of effort into making a fully functional music app for you. What will they do next? Offline support?
Why has America’s political axis completely shifted to the right? The Democratic Party is now moderate-right and the Republican Party is, how shall I put this, way the fuck out in right field! How do I know the Republican Party is WAY right? They are hoping for Palin 2012. Need I say more? 
So, basically, we have a one-party state. We all know that a third party (i.e. Green Party, Libertarian Party, etc.) will never win a major election, at least not in the near future. Therefore, we get stuck with someone who is “Republican” or someone who is ”Really Republican” for most elections. That leaves someone like myself, a rather Left-wing, liberal-minded person left feeling unrepresented and downright frustrated with the government! I know I am not alone in this. I know there are many many people out there who stand on similar political ground.
This is what I ask of future politicians; If you claim to be from the Left side (or any side really), then show it! Have the courage to say what you truly think, not what will gain you the most constituents. I’m not the first to call for such a thing, this I know, but every voice helps, right? Anyway, I think we would all greatly appreciate some true variety in our political system. If you are pro-gay marriage, pro-gun control, pro-stem cell research, pro-taxing the shit out of the rich, then simply come out with it! And be proud of it! I am…
This is not rocket science, people. If politicians were more honest about their true opinions, instead of being attention-craving, money-hungry figureheads for all things douchey (see below image), then there would be less corruption in the government and real progress could be made.
I look forward to the day when our country gets over itself and finally steps into the 21st Century.
